Jamaica Street Artists
studio is one of the largest artist led studios outside of London, representing a diverse collective of cutting edge fine artists, illustrators and filmmakers. Over the last 15 years their annual Open Studio event has become increasingly popular, with over 2000 visitors in 2010. Previous group exhibitions at Bristol City Art Gallery and Museum and St George’s have also provided an additional showcase for the studio’s artists.
The studio’s ethos is to recruit new graduates alongside professional artists ensuring that Jamaica Street Artists support emerging creative talent from the region. The success of this environment can be demonstrated through our artists diverse achievements, with individuals regularly exhibiting across the UK and abroad, achieving success in national competitions and prizes, and winning exciting new commissions and clients.
As an organisation we offer assistance with marketing, links to work opportunities, shared resources, informal mentoring and peer support. We also promote artists exhibitions and events through our website, social networking and a new monthly newsletter. We encourage artists to become involved in the studio as an organisation and there is a vibrant energy at JSA ensuring that support and success is infectious, a quality which JSA are eager to maintain.
