AN ESSENTIAL EVENT FOR ART LOVERS, COLLECTORS AND THE CURIOUS, JSA’S OPEN STUDIO IS A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT IN BRISTOL'S CREATIVE CALENDAR.

We lift the veil from our artists’ practices and invite the public into our iconic building for an opportunity to see some fantastic art and give insight into how we work both as individuals and as a collective.

Once again we will feature our infamous mini canvas auction along with international guest artists from Argentina - see more details below. This years Open Studio is set to be really exciting in the runup to next year’s twentieth anniversary celebrations and definately should not be missed.

Helen Williams features in Paper Scissors Stone a temporary emporium showcasing the very best of local, high quality design with a selection of small to large scale textile works as well as her range of greetings cards.

Each with their own distinct practice, painters Rose Sanderson and Anthony Garratt explore the natural world that surrounds them in this group exhibition.

In keeping with the gallery’s dynamic programme of short exhibitions Patrick Brandon exhibits in this group show with Lloyd Durling and Brendan Lancaster. Brandon’s work is often made up of several translucent layers providing a rich experience for the eyes.

Mr Mead exhibits in this group illustrative exhibition with artists designing famous narrative tales. Mr Mead will be showing three pieces, all with his take on the Irish giant tale.

Bristol Affordable Art Fair

  • 18 - 20 May

Abigail McDougall will be showing new watercolours in partnership with London based gallery Degree Art including fresh scenes of Bristol harbour and Clifton, as well as Mr Mead, with the nomadic Bristol based gallery Antlers who will be showcasing their artists for the first time here.

Jamaica Street Artists

are committed to developing a creative and diverse exhibitions programme, showcasing the collective talent of the artists within the studio.

The studio holds an annual Open Studio, spanning three days, opening up the iconic building to the public and culminating in a popular mini-canvas auction. JSA’s history of organising and curating critically acclaimed exhibitions can be traced back to international art festival Retox in 2003 and now includes the successful JSA and Friends Exhibition and Auction, City of Bristol Art Gallery and Museum, 2009, three-part evolving illustration showcase Red, Yellow, Blue, St George’s, Bristol, 2010-2011 and The Art Box, Bristol, 2010, a pop-up shop and gallery for Christmas.
